As is traditional in the royal family, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wished Prince Harry a happy birthday publicly using their popular social media accounts, as well as chatting to him privately.  Harry turned 36 yesterday, but spent the day in LA with Meghan and Harry so wasn't able to see his family in person.  Kate and William s hared a fun snap of them racing Harry during a visit to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park back in 2017 to mark the special occasion.  The snap shows all three of them sprinting down the track with determined looks on their faces, but Harry is firmly in the lead.  Fans loved the fun, relaxed photo, but others made a cheeky joke about the fact Harry appeared to be running away from the Cambridges, making the comparison to him running away from his royal life.  One wrote: "I think it's hysterical that they chose one of Harry tunning away with William and Kate in hot persuit. That could not have been an accident."

Another wrote: "Running away from your royal duties like..."

A third added: "Stop running Harry. Come home."

A handful of fans criticised the Cambridges for not including Meghan in the photo, however royals rarely include the birthday boy or girl's other half in their celebration snap.  The photo the couple shared to wish Meghan a happy birthday earlier this year didn't show Harry, and the same goes for the pictures picked by the Queen for both occasions.  The snap was taken at a Heads Together event, which the trio set up, which saw people who were taking part in the London Marathon to raise cash for the cause do some last minute training.  Kate wore a bright red jacket with black sports leggings, while Harry and William donned tracksuit bottoms.  Other senior royals have also shared their affection for Harry - who quit the royal family and headed to America earlier this year on social media.  The royal family's official Twitter account shared a picture of Harry grinning alongside the Queen.  The post said: "Wishing the Duke of Sussex a very happy birthday."

And Prince Charles' social media team shared an image of father and son laughing together in 2014.
