Greater Manchester Police say a 50-year-old man has suffered life threatening injuries to his arm and face in a dog attack at Yewdale Gardens, in Bolton

A 50-year-old man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries to his arm and face after he was mauled by a dog, Greater Manchester Police say.  Emergency services were called to reports of a dog attack at Yewdale Gardens in Bolton at around 1.20pm Thursday.  An air ambulance and police responded to the reports of the attack in the residential area.  The victim was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries to his arm and face, Greater Manchester Police has confirmed.  A scene remained in place with paramedics and police present, the Manchester Evening News reports.  A spokesperson for the force said: "Officers were called to Yewdale Gardens, Bolton, at about 1.20pm on Thursday 6 May 2021 to reports a man was being attacked by a dog.  NWAS and an air ambulance attended and a 50-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries to his arm and face.  A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing. The dog has been secured by PetMedics."

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said: "An ambulance, advanced paramedic and air ambulance are currently attending an incident on Yewdale Gardens, Breightmet, following a 999 call at 13.32."

Members of the public were being advised to avoid the area on Thursday afternoon.  The Bolton Council Dog Enforcement Control Unit was also present at the scene.
